Fuck Buttons

fuckbuttons

Fuck Buttons was conceived by Andrew Hung & Benjamin John Power in the winter of 2004 in Bristol.
Initially the group was born as an outlet for their nihilistic-noise tendencies but quickly, the two Fuck Buttons realised they could harness the use of noise as a tool to immerse and evoke. No longer afraid of melody or rhythm, the group started fusing all these elements to the point when drone becomes melody becomes rhythm.
With their electric live performances sealing the notion that the two Fuck Buttons are attempting some kind of transcendence between the listener and the Universe itself, one could easily envisage one’s psyches being shaken by the very rumbles of the earth’s motions.
Tribal beats and subtle beautiful melodies weave amongst contorting Technicolor drone-scapes while preaching distorted-vocals scream for dear hope herself… Fuck Buttons straddle you between the wall of sound that lies between the beginning of destruction and the end of birth. This grand noise will fondle you into a state of immersed euphoria.

The American Dollar

the-american-dollar

With slow undulations of sonic relief and rich textures that are light as snow, The American Dollar paints a breathtaking aural landscape that is unmistakably their own. Having played together for the past seven years, John Emanuele (drum, keyboard, bass, guitar) and Rich Cupolo (guitar, keyboard, bass, percussion) show their seemingly effortless musical talents through their expressive songwriting. The American Dollar started as a side project for the two friends in 2005, but the discovery of emotional cimenatic works – the kinds that range from ambient electronic passages to orchestral, full band climaxes – transformed this into their full-time passion. Their first finished composition as The American Dollar was “Everyone Gets Shot,” and within a day of posting it around on the Internet, MTV immediately picked it up for its Battlegrounds television program.

Klimt 1918

klimt1918

Klimt 1918's sound can be described as alternative rock with roots in avant-garde metal, featuring consistent darkwave and post-rock influences. The resulting blend is a melodic and melancholic guitar-based rock, combining thick shoegaze-like rhythm-guitar riffs with post-rock-esque atmospheres. Their recent output has consistently shifted towards indie rock, featuring more emphasis on shoegaze and post-rock traits while abandoning entirely their former metal influences.

Elbow

elbow

Elbow are a Mercury Prize winning English alternative rock band. The band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1990, and retains its original line-up of lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Guy Garvey, guitarist and back up vocalist Mark Potter, keyboardist and back up vocalist Craig Potter, bassist Pete Turner and drummer Richard Jupp. Over the band's 18 year career they have released four studio albums, four EPs and ten top fifty singles in the UK.

The band is named after a line in the BBC TV mini-series The Singing Detective; a character says that the word "elbow" is the most sensuous word in the English language, not for its definition, but for how it feels to say it.

Acclaimed for their innovative sound and front-man Guy Garvey's candid, evocative lyrics, Elbow have received vast critical acclaim and been endorsed by major artists Radiohead, Blur, R.E.M. and U2 despite minor commercial success during much of their career. The Velvet Underground's co-founder John Cale selected Elbow's "Switching Off" as one of his eight chosen records on the BBC's "Desert Island Discs" radio programme. In September 2008, alternative rock band Snow Patrol declared their appreciation for the band by covering Elbow's track "One Day Like This" on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. Commercial success is finally beginning to match Elbow's critical acclaim and status among fans.
